What is The SimpleHome Integrated Lighting Program?

Lighting plays a key role in any space, indoors and out. For most of us, it is the first element we feel.  It defines the intent of the space: for recreation, entertainment, relaxation or work. But to make a lighting design truly shine, it takes more than just light fixtures. It combines all aspects of light control: luminaires, shades, drapes, and automated windows. In addition, and very importantly, it involves members of the project team right from the beginning: Architect, Builder, Interior Designer, Lighting Designer, Electrician and Client.

This cohesive approach avoids the many pitfalls of residential lighting and results in superior long-term performance. There are varying levels of expertise among the professionals on a project. SimpleHome acts as the Technology Integrator, supplementing and coordinating the team. We recommend a certified lighting consultant when the budget allows. When it doesn’t, our lighting specialist works alongside our shade specialist and the project team. This big picture approach considers not just the technology but the time of day and year and position to the sun. A control system, e.g. Lutron, conducts this orchestra for carefree operation.

Who benefits from the Integrated Lighting Program?

Everyone involved. The Program delivers an efficient, collaborative, and effective approach to design coordination, implementation, programming, and ongoing support.

  1.            Architect: Coordination, RCP, fixture schedule and wiring plan. Product bench-testing for compatibility, as required.

  2.            Builder: Direct support to ensure an efficient and accurate process in all phases of the project. Construction drawings and on-site coordination.

  3.            Electrician: Supported with comprehensive lighting plans, installation details, and on-site project management. Our master electricians speak their language.

  4.            Interior Designer: Highlight the room, the furnishing and the art the way they’re envisioned with a cohesive approach and automated scene control; minimize furniture fading with motorized shades and drapes.

  5.           Lighting Designer: design support by matching controls to luminaires.  We value the expertise of a Certified Lighting Consultant, and when they are on a project, we defer to their expertise on fixture specification pending compatibility check.

  6.             Landscape Architect: design support, conduit map, fixture schedule of exterior lighting, integration with interior lighting control.

  7.            And of course… the Client: confidence in the final result and downstream support

What are the next steps?

Our first step is to help determine the need and team. Next is to assess the scope and budget. And third, to draw up a timeline, task list and documentation.  We support all phases of the project lifecycle. Starting in the early stages of planning allows for virtually limitless opportunity.

To help our partners and clients experience Integrated Lighting, SimpleHome has partnered with several showrooms. Our signature space is at SevenTide Boston:

Visits are coordinated through SimpleHome in conjunction with the above showrooms. We encourage all visitors to allow extra time to experience the products and concepts on display in Clark Living and Marvin Connected Home.
